The Slow Home Project Wrap Up – Philadelphia

Today is Wednesday, September 8, 2010 and we are reviewing the Slow Home Project data from Philadelphia! Together, we reviewed 581 projects in this city and 53% of the met or exceeded the minimum design quality threshold of 13 out of 20 points on the Slow Home Test. This places the overall design quality in Philadelphia below Vancouver, where 79% of the houses meet the minimum design quality threshold.

We are also happy to announce the winners of the Slow Home Awards for Philadelphia as voted on by you!

For Best Apartment/ Loft project, the winner is “Duck Flats – Unit 208” designed by Onion Flats and developed by Domani Developers.

For Best Townhouse, the winner is “Two-Point Five Beta” by Post Green Homes and Interface Studio Architects.

Congratulations to the winners – John and Matthew will be planning a visit to Philadelphia to meet the winners and tour the projects!

We are also very excited to announce one of the big new developments on the Slow Home site starting next week! John and Matthew will be doing weekly live design workshops entitled “Ask An Architect?” and we are opening the floor to any of our viewers who have a real life residential design question about real estate, remodeling, construction (or anything else slow home related that you can think of!) We want you to send us your questions and floor plans by email and we will be selecting some to discuss during our 30 minute live and interactive workshops!

We will be posting an “Ask An Architect?” link on the site starting this Thursday – so get your questions together and send them to us! We will also be posting the workshop schedule for September in the coming days!

Make sure to join us tomorrow where we will be reviewing the Slow Home data from Atlanta. Where do you think Atlanta sits for residential design quality in relation to Vancouver and Philadelphia? Find out tomorrow!
