Great plan.  This is an excellent reminder (lesson) of how much you can improve a plan without a ‘massive gut’ like my first solution! :)

That anchor point (TV or Art Display) at the south end of the Kitchen that you refer to John, reminds me of your solution to the Stein Residence Remodel project that you presented a couple of years back.

I think Dayle should reference this project for some more ideas on this.  I also agree with John’s suggestion to ‘stretch’ the fireplace along the back entry.  Some excellent examples are HouseBrand’s Riverside Remodel and Stanley Crescent projects…

While I think the J+M solution is fine, I would be more inclined towards some the options presented yesterday. Many of the same ideas presented here were explored and developed to a  higher level. I am also not convinced that the fridge placement and the proposed mid height wall to end the sink counter will look good. It seems to me that this closes off the space.

As an aside, it is a bit of a pain to have the previous parts of a video series “disappear”. Maybe this is different on Facebook but…

Hi, As I mentioned before my intention was to adopt Louis’s fantastic fireplace solution and mix it with my option two (where patio door is moved).
So here is that hybrid proposal. I tried to keep everything simple and clear. Louis’s fireplace now really stands out and makes for a fine feature. A small platform is created in place where patio doors are in existing condition to compliment the opening to basement by creating a bridge like effect. Regarding the kitchen; I opted for a built in elements with stove on one side and a furniture like peace with a sink on the other. This creates a functional kitchen but gives a appearance of minimalistic single sided kitchen with a sideboard on the other side……

Thanks again to Louis for creating that great fireplace…and BradW for constructive suggestions….

    SN,

WOW! A very very nice aspirational space! It is amazing what you can render. Thanks for making the time and effort.

Thanks BradW, you are so kind

Further to Brad’s aside, perhaps you could post a link to earlier parts when doing a series to save viewers the trouble of digging through the video library for earlier pics and comments.  Thanks!

SN – That is jaw-dropping gorgeous!  Thanks for doing this and sharing these images.  I love so many details about it too; the window (wood) jamb surrounds and how it meets the ceiling and walls, windows heights, the credenza-like kitchen addition, the landing with simple metal guard-rail and on.

  • Elizabeth

    Wow too!

I enjoy this site for a number of reasons and two of them are the wonderful options that are put forward and the creative illustrations ( WOW  SN ).  As a further comment I have not found an easy way to get to these comments (I hunt and peck on the internet till I find them).  What is the easy way to get here?   P.S. congratulations on the baby.

Thank you all for the great comments.  :-)
Louis & BradW, again, thank you for you input in this project, we should do this again….  this cross continent collaboration turns out to be fun….

Hi Brad – I agree – I find the work done by the group to be really compelling and I hope this continues on as we do more projects. I have really enjoyed following along. I will discuss with Eric about how the previous parts of the project discussion can be made more visible and not disappear.

  • Matthew North

Wow! Those are amazing renderings. The detailing is immaculate!

  • Clem

Thanks for covering it with Eric. Hoping there is an effective way.
